Pyramid Solitaire is a card game similar to Golf Solitaire and Tri Peaks where the goal is to clear the pyramid by pairing cards that add up to 13.

How to Play Pyramid Solitaire

Rules

  • Pair cards that add up to 13, regardless of suit, to remove them from the tableau. Ace is worth 1, Jack = 11, Queen = 12, and King = 13. Valid pairs are:

    • A and Q
    • 2 and J
    • 3 and 10
    • 4 and 9
    • 5 and 8
    • 6 and 7
  • Since Kings are worth 13, they can be removed without pairing.

  • Only exposed cards (those not covered by others) can be paired or moved. You can pair tableau cards with each other and waste cards with tableau cards.

  • You are allowed to pair an exposed pyramid card with a card it is covering if it is only covered by one card, and they add up to 13. For example, if a 10 is only covered by a 3, you can pair them.

  • You can draw one card at a time from the stock to the waste pile.

  • The stock can be reset two times.

Winning

Clear all the cards from the pyramid by pairing them to total 13. The game is won when no cards remain in the pyramid, regardless of any cards left in the stock.

Setup

  • The game uses a single 52-card deck.
  • 28 cards are dealt face up in a pyramid with 7 rows.
  • The remaining cards form the stock pile, placed face down.
  • There is one foundation pile, empty in the beginning.
