Golf Solitaire is a card game where the objective is to clear the tableau by moving cards to the foundation, matching them by rank as either one higher or one lower than the top foundation card.
How to Play Golf Solitaire
Rules
- Only the top card of tableau pile is playable. You can only move one card at a time.
- Cards cannot be moved to or within the tableau; tableau cards can only be moved to the foundation.
- Cards can be moved to the foundation if they are one rank higher or lower than the top card of the foundation, regardless of suit.
- Card wrapping is not allowed - you can’t place an Ace on a King or a King on an Ace.
- If no moves are possible, draw a card from the stock pile and place it on the foundation.
Winning
The game is won when all cards have been moved from the tableau to the foundation, regardless of any remaining cards in the stock.
Setup
- The game uses a single standard 52-card deck.
- 35 cards are dealt face up into 7 tableau piles, with 5 cards in each pile.
- There is only one foundation pile, dealt one card face up at the beginning of the game.
- The remaining 16 cards form the stock pile, which is placed face down.
Variations
- Golf (Relaxed) - same rules as Golf, but card wrapping is allowed (you can place an Ace on a King and vice versa), and the foundation starts empty.
- Golf (Strict) - same rules as Golf, but no cards can be placed on a King.
